Abstract: A preliminary observation on characteristics of shooting biology including temporal rules of shoot emergence, shoot degradation, and the difference in shoot quality of dendrocalamus brandisii was conducted. It was indicated that the quantity of shoot emergence and the shoot quality varied significantly with the growing stage and the stalk age of the bamboos, and there were remarkable laws to follow in bamboo shoot production.
