A preliminary division of the ecological type zones of the pine caterpillar Dendrolimus punctatus in Quzhou forest area zhejiang,China

The pine caterpillar Dendrolimus punctatus has been a serious pest to the Pinus massoniana stand in Quzhou forest area.In order to effectively manage the pest,three ecological type zones of the defoliator,namely:nonnocuous,occasional outbreak,and frequent outbreak and frequent outbreak zones have been divided basing on the geographical feature,the structure of forest form and the relevent socioeconomic conditions of the district.The corresponding pest management,strategies to each of the type zone are suggested and the respective suppression tactics recommended.
