Treatment and use of wastewater from a paper mill through irrigation of plantations

This paper deals with the irrigation system of forested land.The reasults from the first two years of our study demonstrate that this irrigation system consisting of the settling tanks,wastewater lagoon and forested sites is available for treatment of wastewater from the paper Mill.The total removal efficency of COD_MN SS and the color in the wastewater is 99.2%,97.%3 and 98.9%.It is advisable to use the wastewater in growing the seedlings of Eucalyptus globulus and Cupressus duclouxiana.Survival of Eucalyptus globulus seedlings on the irrigated plots has increased by 28.3% than the control and the wood volume has increased by 49.2%(plot Ⅱ-3) and 353.4%(plot Ⅱ-5).There is no significant.difference in the soil fertility between irrigated ann non-irrigated plots.The exchangeable sodium percentage in.the irrigated soil is 2.13-2.50%.
