A BRIEF REPORT ON AFFORESTATION OF EUCALYPTUS GLOBULUS IN THE STRIPPED TOPSOIL OF A PHOSPHATE MINE

  • In recent years, great importance Was attached to afforestation in mine areas at home and abroad but very few examples of success of the afforestation in the stripped topsoil of a mine were reported. Tasmanian bluegums(Eucalyptus globulus) Were planted at Zhongbao Matouqing Phosphate Mine in Haikou Forest Farm of Kunming. They have grown to be a closed canopy for the first one year so that soil erosion has been controlled effectively. From what has been said above, the afforestation proves feasible and successful.
