A NEW SPECIES OF THE GENUS GYLINDROCARPON

  • Conidial state of Nectria aleuritidia Chen et Zhang, Scientia Silvae Sinicae, 20(2):156~159, 1984. Cylindrocarpon aleuritum Chen et Zhang. sp. nov. Ascospores isolated on plates of patato dextrose agar plus 10% tungoil trees twigs boiled liquid(pH 4~5) at 17~20℃, the mycelium are white byssoid and the colonies are globose with rounded edge in 120 hours. Microconidia are 9.6~19.6×1.1~5.5μm, hyaline, cylindrical, no septate and occasionally may become 1-septate. Macroconidia began to form in about 6 days from 1~2 phialides that occur as termination branch conidiophores. These phialides measure 11~15×2~3μm. Macroconidia are hyaline, elongate cylindrical, narrowing slightly towards the apex. When they have 4~7 septate, straight or curved and measure 59.6×5.3μm. 0-septate 26.1×5.1μm(11.1~38.9×5.3~5.5μm) 1-septate 23.6×4.4μm(11.1~52.8×4.8~5.3μm) 2-septate 30.8×4.6μm(16.3~52.8×3.8~5.0μm) 3-septate 44.0×4.6μm(26.3~77.6×5.0μm) 4-septate 57.5×5.2μm(36.1~72.0×4.4~5.9μm) 5-septate 64.4×5.2μm(36.3~92.4×6.6μm) 6-septate 76.3×5.5μm(44.3~99.8×5.5~5.9μm) 7-septate 85.2×5.9μm(69.3~97.0×5.5~5.7μm) Macroconidia gerrninate readily at 62.2% on 1% dextrose liquid in 48 hours, 20~22℃. No ehlamydospores were seen. Typus specimen of the new species is deposited in Sichuan Academy of Forestry, Chengdu, China.
