THE FLOW DIRECTIONS OF TIMBER IN THE CIRCULATION SPHERE OF CHINA

  • The present state of the flow of timber in China is centripetal transportation. It ts decided by factors, such as the stable tendency of forest resources, the difference between the geographical locations of the wood productive areas and the wood consumptive areas, the unbalanced econmic development of provinces and autonomous regions, the disposition and structure of the nation-wide water and land network of transportation lines. The basic direction features of Chins's timber flow are:from outlying areas to central provinces and regions, from sparsely populated areas to densely populated areas from economically underdeveloped areas to developed areas, and from newly exploited areas to areas that were developed earlier. As for the specific position,it flows from all directions to the middle part of the yellow River and Huaihe River and to the middle reaches and lower reaches of the Yantze River. The general features of the country's timble market are that the northeast area is a steady timber-supplying market, the area of Eastern China is a market where large amount of timber can be transported in or out and bought or sold very easily, the southwestern China is a semi-closed timber market which is charac-terized as an area natural economy first and commodity economy afterwards, and the northwesten area is a weakening market in which it is difficult to buy or sell timber and the absolute volume of business is not large.
