Abstract
This paper reports the results of a preliminary study on the biology and control of Jiangchuan pine sawfly(Microdiprion sp.) heavily infesting the stands of Keteleeria evelyniana Mast.in the county during 1987~1989. The life history and behavior of this pest are closely observed both in the field and laboratory. The data show that the pest produces3 generations a year. The author cmphasizes that the population of the first generation larvae being the most abundant, should be targeted for controlling.A few insecti- cides have been tested in the field and all have shown promising results.Mean- while, the author points out that the host trees with the larva density below 80/tree can be protected only by natural biological control agents.
