A STUDY ON THE CONTROL INDEX OF PHENACASPIS KENTIAE KUWANA

This paper reports the results of a study on the control index of the camellia scale Phenacaspis kentiae Kuwana.The determining of control index is recognized as an important part in practicing effective integrated pest management.According to the observation data concerning the relationship between the pest density and the different stages of pest infestation manifested on the host plant,the authors find that 5 scales per leaf can be suggested as an index for timely control against the pest.In determining the control index the economic loss caused by the infested flowers of Camellia is also taken into consideration.Control practices carried out these years in both Erhai park and Taihua Temple park show promising results.
