A STUDY ON FIBRIL ANGLE OF WOOD FIBER WALLS OF CHINESE FIR(CUNNINGHAMIA LANCEOLATA) IN YUNNAN

  • This paper reports the research result of fibril angle of wood fiber tangential walls of Chinese fir grown up in different regions,different slope directions and grown out of cuttings by means of polarized-light.The relation between fibril angle and the physico-me-chanical properties of Chinese fir has been probed.The results show that variability of fibril angle of Chinese fir is greater and it has certain relation with the mechanical proper-ties.Along with the decrease of the fibrile angle,parallel compressive strength,bending strength,maximum tensile strength parallelgrain and impact strength of the wood increase distinctly.Therefore,in character evaluation of Chinese fir,fibril angle should be used as an important factor.
