A PRELIMINARY STUDY ON THE AGE STRUCTURE OF FARGESIA RUFA POPULATION IN THE NORTHERN SLOPE OF MOTIANLING MOUNTAIN

  • Through the method of "static life table", the dynamic states of the age structure of Fargesia rufa population in the northern slope of Motianling mountain were discussed. There were 4 types of age structure. The minimum life spans of bamboo whips and culms were different within different types of age structure. The general trend of the population structure was from mature to feeble and dead. The laws of the age structure of Fargesia rufa of stable population were:the number of 1-4 year-old culm accounted for 80% of the total culms, and the number of each age culm of 1-4 years old accounted for 12%~32% of the total culms. However, the laws of each age culm number of 1-4 years old in growing population of Fargesia rufa was.1-yr. > 2yr. > 3-yr. > 4-yr. This study indicated that the age structure of Fargesia rufa population was remarkably affected by slope. The obvious factor resulting in the dynamic change in the age structure of Fargesia tufa population in the northern slope of Motianling Ridge is the population itself.
