A STUDY ON THE ADAPTATION OF WHITE WAX SCALES TO VARIOUS CLIMATES

  • The results of our investigation on white wax scales and introduction of brood insects have shown that white wax scales distribute not only in southern temperate zone, but also in middle temperate zone, northern temperate zone; northern subtropical zone, middle subtropical zone and southern subtropical zone; even in torrid zone natural population of white wax scales can subsist or are able to multiply through introduction. Thus it can be seen that white wax scales have strong eco-adaptation to various climates and have much plasticity. We regard white wax scales as a kind of eurythermal insects. The results have provided scietific basis for expanding production areas of white wax scales to raise output of the white wax.
