A STUDY ON THE EUCALYPTUS INTRODUCED FROM AUSTRALIA TO HAIKOU FOREST FARM IN KUNMING

  • Through the data analys is of eucalyptus trees at the age of 7.5 years and by randomized block design test,the following 9 species and provenances of Eucalyptus-smithii 15059,E.camphora,E.nitens,E,bajensis,E.benthamii,E.champmaniana,E.smithii 15092,E.nova-anglica and E.smithii 15091 were seleeted from the 34 provenances of 27 eucalyptus species from Australia,These species are much better than the previous E.maidenii in their growth speed,resistance and adaptability.The paper proposes that these species and provenances should be introduced for extensive plantation.The other l0 species and provenances,which grow faster than E.globulus,can be considered as the second choice for planting.E.laevopinea,E.triflora and E.pauciflora(Monocalyptus) were successfully introduced for the first time from Australia,to the Northern Hemisphere.This successful introduction has significant meaning in biology,economy and reforestation.
