A study on raising output of murray red gum(eucalyptus camaldulensis)

  • A felling trial on the fuelwood plantation of Murray red gum was donenear Zuolin Village in Yuanmou County,Yunnan Province in April 1994.The trial in-cluded 4 treatments,i.e,1)retaining stumps about 10 cm high from the ground;2)retaining trunk about 30 cm high from the ground;3)retaining stumps about 50 cmhigh from the ground;4) retaining the whole trees as a check group.After determiningthe ground stem's diameter,the sprout buds,crown and timber volume in March1995,the authors came to the conclusion that the sprout buds after felling was 40.85times of these without being felled.The most sprout buds were shown by whose with theretained trunks about 10 cm high from the ground and they were 43.58 times of thecheck group.The test proved to be successful and it could be used in the managementfor the Murray red grm (Eucalyptus camaldulensis).
