An evaluation of nutrient composition of the leaves of fuelwood species

  • By Using GB-6432,6438-86 analysing technique, nutrient compositionas well as amino acid and trace element contents of 50 samples from 29 trialed and tradi-tional fueldwood species collected from 4 experimenting sites in Anning,Yuanmou coun-ties and Yuxi and Dongchuan are measured to seek for comprehensive utilization ofmelwood stands.Similar nutrient compositions are found in leaves of both the trialedspecies and the traditional species (Robinia pseudoacacia L,Leucaena leucocephala (Lam).D.wit and Cajanus cajan (Linn)Huth etc).It is thus believed that leaves of such Species as Albizia ordoratissima (L.f.)Banth. A.mollis (Wall.)Boiv. Acaciasuma Buch-Ham ex Wall as well as Populus davidiana Dode etc,can be used as food orfood additives for poultry raising It is therefore suggested that further researches be con-ducted on the processing technique and poultry raising concerning the use of leaf feed.
