The Rapid Propagation of Begonia tuberhybrieda

  • Begonia tuberhybrieda is a famous potted flower with lower coefficient of clonal propagation and easier degeneration by seed propagation. To breed rapidly and keep original property, the authors cultured shoots, petal and pedicel explants of Begonia tuberhybrieda on Ms medium supplemented with BA(0.5, 2 mg/1)+NAA(0.1, 0.5 mg/1) or 2, 4~D1 mg/1 separately to induce callus. The Ms medium with BA 2 mg/1+NAA 0.5 mg/1+Phloroluoin 1 mg/1 is better for differ-entiation of adventitious buds and the Potato medium with BA 0.5 mg/1+NAA 0.1 mg/1 is suitable for proliferation. The Ms liquid medium without promoting substance is for strengthening. Plantlets and the 1/2 Ms medium with NAA 1 mg/1 (or without NAA) is for inducing roots.
