Three Ponerinae Species Newly Recordedin China and New Distribution of Ponera sinensis (Hymenoptera:Formicidae)

  • Three species of the ant subfamily Ponerinae newly recorded in China are cellected in the tropical rain forest of Southern and Southwestern Yunnan, i.e., Anochetus graeffei Mayr, Odontomachus rixosus Smith, and Leptogenys lucidula Emery.The new distribution of Ponera sinensis Wheeler in this area is reported.Detailed description is provided for the worker caste of each species. Distributions, known species in both the world and China of 4 genera Anochetus Mayr, Odontomachus Latreille, Leptogenys Roger, and Ponera Latreille are discussed.
