Comparison and Assessment of the Nutritive Compositions of the Pupae of Two Pine Caterpillars

From view point of turning pests into resources, this paper deals with the nutritive value of two pine caterpillars.The contents of protein, amino acids, fat and carbohy drate of Dendrolimu shoui are 58.15%, 35.98%, 22.52% and 6.82% respectively, while those of D. punctatus wenshanensis are 61.26%, 38.92%, 19.75% and 9.70%;the essential fatty acids of the former are 32.2028%, the latter 28.40%;both pupae are rich in vitamins and minor elements.
