Importance of Utilizing Improved Variety in Forestry Industrialization of Yunnan

  • Yunnan is a mountainous and forestry province, and one of the biggest four forest regions in China, where forestry plays an important role in local economic development. The quantity and quality of sustainable forest reserve resources decide the key of forestry industrialization, which depends on the level of forest tree improvement.The forest tree improvement brings a huge benefit on forestry industrialization, cultivation and processing in many countries.Firstly, people's old planting thought of relying on natural regeneration, non-selective seed collecting and raising seedlings, and extensive tending must be changed as the new one of breeding and using improved seeds or clones to g row seedlings, intensive management by training and mass media.Secondly, governments have to invest special fund to set up experiment and demonstration afforestation station in breeding and utilization of improved variety.Thirdly, ex perts in forest tree improvement must make a tho rough investigation and study on breed quality varieties rapidly to fit local reality of forestry development by conventional breeding techniques and advanced biotechnology.Meanwhile, in order to keep the genetic diversity in planting and resource cultivation, multiple superior families or clones should be used to planting.It can be realized by the sustainable development of reserve resources in forestry industrialization to utilize improved seedlings, relevant planting methods and tending measures constantly.
