The Current Situation of 3"S" Technology and Its Application on the Forestry Today and Future

Increasing attention is paid to an applied system of 3"S" technology fo r its being capable of getting and analyzing spatial information quickly and timely by the international society in the field of global change studies, dynamic monitoring of resources and environments, detecting and forecasting of nature disasters, etc.In this paper, the theory and key techniques on the integration of RS, GPS and GIS are described.The author have also introduced 3"S" technology development tendency in China, analyzed questions and difficulties in the realization of 3"S" applied system, and forecasted its application in forestry.
