A Study on Yunnan Pine Resin MidgeⅡ-Natural Enemies and Integrated Pest Management

  • Pine resin midges Cecidomyia yunnanensis is a gall forming insect of pine tree in Yunnan, especially in the plantation of the province. The natural enemies of resin midges were closely studied to provide a reference for suggesting the management measures of the pest.Guided by the theories of bringing the function of the biodiversity in forest ecosystem into full play and promoting the ecological balance in the system, the integrated management strategies were made:basing on rational forest management technologies, mainly depending on protecting and developing vegetation cover under tree canopy, promoting natural biological control, and cutting off the infested branches and limited chemical control in adult stage.
