Studies on Growth Laws of Eucalyptus camaldulensis in Xerothermic Valley in Yuanmou County, Yunnan, China

  • The growth laws of three E. camaldulensis forests with different density such as 3 333 stands·hm-2, 5 000 stands·hm-2 and 10 000 stands·hm-2 were studied in this paper. The results showed that the forest density influences the growth of trees. With the increase of the density, the stand volume and area of leaves per hectare, height and diameter decrease. The stand volume in three forests with different density fro m3 333 stands·hm-2 to 10 000 stands·hm-2 was respectively 80 653 m3·hm-2, 55.927 m3·hm-2 and 44.541 m3·hm-2. The diameter was respectively 8 68cm, 4 80cm and 3.97cm, and the height was respectively 9.46m, 9.07m and 7.22m. When the forest density was more than 3 333 stands·hm-2, the growth of trees would be limited due to their shortage of soil and water. Therefore, the afforestation density of E. camaldulensis would be less than 3 333 stands·hm-2 in the Xerothermic valley.
