Effects on Growth of Nursery Stock and Young Crop of Pinus massoniana by Cutting Roots When Growing Seedlings

  • Seeds of Pinus massoniana were germinated in sand bed to grow seedlings and bud seedlings by cutting roots were transplanted in definite distance.Nursery stocks by cutting roots with different measures and to different depth were planted. The results showed that by cutting their roots and side roots to the depth of 8~10 cm early in September, the seedlings could acquire nursery stocks with best quality, the plantation survival rate of 96%, the best growth indexes for young crop, canopy closure ahead of time, lower cost and significant economic benefit.
