A Preliminary Study on Growth Law of Shoots of Pseudosasa amabilis

  • Through the observation on the growth rhythm of bamboo shoots of Pseudosasa amabilis and on the relation between rhizome system and shooting, the results show that the shooting period can be divided into three stages. The duration of the first 10 days belongs to the initial stage, the duration from 10th~25th days is the boosting stage, and the duration from 25th~40th days is the terminal stage. The rate of degenerated shoots in early stage and in boosting stag is lowed, while the rate of growing up into bamboo is higher. The amount of shooting can be increased by unearthing shoot every other day.The height-growth rhythm of bamboo is firstly slower and then become faster, at last get slower again.
