The Species and Population of Mice in Kunming Horticultural EXPO Garden and Their Management

The species and population of mice in Kunming Horticultural EXPO Garden were investigated and monitored from Sept.15,1998 to Nov.15,1999.The results indicated that there were nine different mouse species in the garden.Before the control practice,the mean percentage of food stolen was 80.82 and the relative density of mice was 17.8 percent.According to the special environmental conditions and demands of the garden,three controlling practices(two in large-scale and a in small-to-middle-sized one) were carried out,and the special integrated controlling measures were used in some special areas as well.These practices decreased the relative density of mice to 2.0 percent or lower,which insured the prosperous progress of '99 Kunming Horticultural EXPO.
