A Research Advance in Genetic Improvement and Development Strategy of Pinus armandii in China

The research progress was briefly reviewed on the introduction,provenance trial and construction of seed plantation in Pinus armandii in China and the genetic improvement strategy was put forward on the basis of the above in this paper.The systematic and further researches must be conducted on reproductive system in order to increase the genetic quality and production of seeds in the seed plantation.The breeding target should be enlarged.New breeds should be successively cultivated through sexual hybridation.The study on provenance×environment interaction and molecular breeding should be enhanced.The popularization of improved varieties of Pinus armandii should be speeded up.
