  • Seeding propagation and extensive management were important factors that resulted in low yield and poor quality.By canopy replacement by high grafting elite breed and integrated measures such as pruning,tending,fertilization,intecropping with grain crops and pest and disease control,low-yield Castanea mollissima of 10-12 years were transformed and their yield was improved from 108.6 kg/hm2 to 1 260.45 kg/hm2.The grafted young trees of 2 years fruited 2-3 years ahead of due time.
