Research Development of Cutting Breeding Techniques for Pinus Genus in China and Related Countermeasures

Research developments of cutting breeding techniques in China for tree species of Pinus genus were commented from two aspects, i.e.from the interior and exterior factors influencing upon rooting of the cuttings.The strategy for pine cutting breeding was put forward as follows:Fundamental study on genetic testing should be strengthened, seedlings or clones from high GCA(general coupling ability)parents testified by growth of their offsprings should be used for cutting propagation of pine tree species.Researches on rooting rate variation should be undergone to identify the clones, families and provenances with strong rooting capacity and high survival rate.New plant growth regulators and methods for cutting treatment, and for rejuvenation of maternal plants should be studied.Taking advantage of gene transfer techniques, studies on building up the gene map and on transferring the genes related to rooting ability of pine tree species should be stressed.
