Study on Shooting Hastening Techniques of Dendrocalamopsis oldhami

  • Aiming at high yield, fine quality, efficient production of bamboo shoots and sustainable management of Dendrocalamopsis oldhami plantation, a shooting hastening experiment was conducted with varied measures of cultivation. It was showed by the experiment that the shooting was evidently hastened by sun bathing of the bamboo shoots and mulching the stand ground surface with organic substance. It was showed that bamboo shooting can be brought forward by 36 days compared with control, and the shooting period was prolonged by 32 days by bathing the shoots in the sun for 20 days in early March. The shooting stage was moved up by 57 days, and the shooting duration was prolonged by 17 days through mulching the ground surface of the stand with 30 cm in thickness of rice chaff in mid February. Though water supply did not significantly influence the shooting duration, it significantly promoted shooting quantity and quality of the bamboo shoots. It was recommended that groundmulching and sun bathing the shoots be popularized as feasible techniques in shoot production of Dendrocalamopsis oldhami, and it was suggested that studies be deepened on precise irrigation and productivity maintenance of the stand while hastening the bamboo shooting is applied.
