Study on Grafting Techniques of Juglans nigra

  • Clonal seed orchards and scion producing nurseries of Juglans nigra were set up both in south Xinjiang and north Xinjiang by grafting superior varieties of Juglans nigra on the local stock plants screened out from the abundant native varieties in Xinjiang. The cost of sapling production of this tree species was greatly reduced by sowing self produced seeds and the sapling quality was also improved, which might speed up the propagation of superior species of Juglans nigra and realize the extension and development of this tree species in Xinjiang.
