Programmed Cell Death in Sexual Reproduction of Gymnosperm

  • Programmed cell death (PCD)is an active and organized process during the growth and development process and cell differentiation of plants.Certain cells undergoing programmed cell death at a suitable time is necessary for the normal reproduction of plants.PCD has gradually become one of the hot research points of plants.Because there are many differences between the reproduction of gymnosperm and angiosperm, more and more researchers are paying attention to the programmed cell death in sexual reproduction of gymnosperm.Recent researches on PCD in gymnosperm reproduction and the importance of further researches related to this aspect were discussed in this article.
