Present Status and Development Strategy of Genetic Improvement of Pinus kesiya var.langbianensis

The present status of provenance trial, introduction experiment and researches on seed orchard establishment of Pinus kesiya var.langbianensis were summarized, and its genetic improvement strategy in the future was discussed in the following 6 aspects:Reinforcing provenance trial, plus -tree selection and germplasm resource conservation.Undertaking researches of vegetative propagation and clone afforestation of this species.Strengthening pollen management and improving the quantity and quality of the seed orchards.Setting up seed orchards of advanced generation and rebuilding the seed production bases by improved varieties.Carrying out inter -specific hybridization, and applying biotechnology as embryo culture in propagation of Pinus kesiya var.langbianensis.
