Studies on Proliferation of Axillary Buds of Pinus elliottii

  • Axillary buds of Pinus elliottii were induced when the apical buds were applied as explants, and the induction rate could reach 100%.The influences of plant growth regulators, basal medium, subculture interval, sucrose concentration on proliferation of axillary buds were experimented. It was showed by the results that the highest induction rate of axillary buds was up to 85.71% on DCR medium supplemented with 1 mg/L 6-BA and 0.03 mg/L NAA, the highest proliferation multiple was 4.11.Among 5 kinds of basal media tested, i.e., DCR, WPM, 1/2 MS, 1/2 GD and Pe, DCR was the best to the proliferation and growth of axillary buds. The DCR medium supplemented with 40 g/L of sucrose was suitable for proliferating healthy axillary buds.It was indicated that the best subculture interval was 20 days, which was good not only for keeping the explants in a tender state but also for speeding up the growth of the induced axillary buds.
