Planning of Ornamental Tree Species in Zhanjiang Urban Area

Four categories of landscapes were proposed for Zhanjiang City, Guangdong Province, to demonstrate local characteristics in ornamental tree species planning, i.e., seaside palm tree landscape, trellis, pergola and gallery landscape, mangrove forest landscape and tropical rain forest landscape, on the basis of discussing the principles for tree species planning and analyzing local resource of ornamental tree species and the present status of greening and beautification in the urban area of Zhanjiang City.It was pointed out that the selection of ornamental tree species in Zhanjiang City should focus on native tropical species of China, particularly on indigenous tree species of Zhanjiang area so as to make contribution to conserving local tree species along with urban landscaping and gardening development, and to take advantage for building Zhanjiang City as a "National Ecological Landscaping City" with tropical gardening characteristics.
