Approaches to Improve Forest Breeding Quality in Northwest China

  • Based on summarizing research advances in improving forest cultivation quality including models of fast and anti-drought sapling breeding, drought resistant forestation and optimal disposition of tree species in accordance with productivity of local soil moisture and appropriate vegetation coverage in northwest China, 3 hot topics closely related to forest cultivation in the northwest area, i.e., soil desiccation, control of harmful biotic agents and forest breeding quality were discussed.Consequently, the approaches to improve forest cultivation quality in the area were explored. It was proposed that more researches should be done on application of new theories and techniques to forestation while doing researches on relevant policies and regulations along with strengthening development of silviculture discipline itself.
