Analysis on Life Form Characteristics of the Mid-montane Humid Evergreen Broad-leaved Forest in Lancangjiang Nature Reserve

  • Based on the data investigated from 7 plots (amounted to 3 500 m2), and according to Raunkiaer life-form classification system, the life forms and leaf characteristics of vascular plants in the mid-montane humid evergreen broad-leaved forest that was located in the Lancangjiang Nature Reserve, in Yunnan Province were analyzed. It was showed by the results that in this community, micro-phanerophytes and meso-phanerophytes occupied the dominant position, accounting for 28.85% and 17.31% respectively. Hemicryptophytes (12.2%) and epiphytic (8.33%) had higher percentage. The dominant leaf size was microphyll. With regard to the leaf characteristics, the communities were mainly composed of simple leaf (82.1%), sclerophyll (52.5%), entire leaf (62.2%) and non-drip tip leaf (84.0%). Through analyzing the characteristic of leaves on different layers, and by comparing with other plants communities, the result showed that this community represented the general characteristic of subtropical evergreen broad-leaved forest, and it also represented the typical physiognomy characteristic of mountainous forest at low latitude and high altitude of subtropical area in Yunnan. In other words, this community could adapt the humid and cold habitat climate that dry and humid season was trenchant in a year.
