Studies on Technology for Extracting and Purifying Matrine and Oxymatrine from Sophora flavescens

The study was made on the isolation and purification of matrine and oxymatrine with ion-exchange and re-crystallization methods. Based on experiments with different solvents, extracting cycles and alkalinizing conditions, it was indicated that the following technology was practicable. Extract the raw materials with 60% alcohol as solvent.The extraction was precipitated, condensed, acidified and treated by ion-exchange.The resin through ion-exchange was extracted with chloroform after having been alkalized.Extract the chloroform extracted resin with ether after condensation to retrieve the chloroform.Crystallize the ether extracted sediment with acetone to get oxymatrine.Retrieve the acetone to get matrine by crystallization.
