Effects of Cryopreservation on Activity of Endogenous SOD and α-amylase in Excised Embryos of Castanopsis kawakamii

  • The activities of endogenous SOD and α-amylase of excised embryos of Castanopsis sclerophylla preserved with different moisture content, freezing and thawing methods were measured and the cryopreservation effects under different conditions were studied. The results showed that there were significant differences in activities of both endogenous SOD and α-amylase under different treatments. It was showed that the moisture content was the key factor to influence the cryopreservation effect for excised embryos of Castanopsis kawakamii and the freezing and thawing methods were other important factors. It was indicated that the best cryopreservation effect could be realized under conditions with 12% moisture content, mild freezing and quick thawing methods, the highest activity of endogenous SOD could reach 212.77 U/h and highest activity of α-amylase could reach 4.764 mg/min respectively.
