Study on Forest Community Characteristics in Mount Yuntai Area, Jiangsu Province

The community constitution, structure, distribution, regeneration and the formation reasons of the forest in Mount Yuntai area, Jiangsu Province, were studied by conventional approaches on the basis of analyzing large quantity of data obtained from plot investigation. The results showed that there were no obvious predominant species, nor the predominant species groups in the studied area though the composition of the forest community was plentiful. The maximum figure of the important value of species was 48.27. There were many forms of species combination, but the reappearance level of the combinations was quite low. Only 3 tree species had constant-rate value above 0.6 in the typically sampled plots. There was complete forest structure in Mount Yuntai area, and the hierarchy of arbor, shrub and the grass was clear and the continuity of plant community distribution was evident. The habitat, the special geographic location and the topographical conditions in the valley and around the low Mount Yuntai are the main reasons to cause above results.
