Analysis on the Contents of Routine Nutritive Components and Gross Energy of Pennisetum sinese

  • The routine nutritive components and gross energy contained in samples of Pennisetum sinese gathered from east suburban area of Kunning City in autumn and winter seasons were determined. The results showed that there were differences between samples gathered in different seasons. The water content in fresh samples taken in the winter was 79.55%. The contents of the routine nutritive components in dried samples gathered in the winter were as follows: 4.48% of crude protein,1.19% of ether extract(crude fat),51.20% of crude fiber,9.77% of ash,and 33.36% of N free extract. The content of gross energy in dried samples taken in the winter was 17 646.30 J/g. Whereas the water content in fresh samples of Pennisetum sinese gathered in autumn was 85.90%,and the contents of routine nutritive components in the autumn taken dried samples were as follows: 12.60% of crude protein,1.97% of ether extract,29.62% of crude fiber,11.52% of ash,and 44.29% of N free extract. The content of gross energy in autumn gathered dried samples was 17 176.00 J/g. It was indicated that the contents of crude protein, ether extract, ash and N free extract in samples gathered in the autumn were generally higher than those of taken in the winter. But the content of crude fiber and the gross energy in samples taken in the winter were higher than those taken in the autumn. There were not evident differences in contents of nutritive components between samples of Pennisetum sinese taken in the growing season and winter in Kunning area, but there were large differences in contents of nutritive components in samples of Pennisetum sinese gathered respectively from Sichuan,Chongqing and Kunning.
