Abstract
The space distribution trend of forest landscape elements on Jingouling Forest Farm of Wangqing Forestry Bureau, Jilin Province was studied based on Class II investigation data of forest resources carried out in 1997 and by means of trend surface analysis method. The study was done by quantifying the ecological potentials of different landscape types through standard network sampling approach supported by ArcInfo techniques. The results showed that the horizontal geographical position did not impact significantly on the spatial distribution of landscape elements, while the spatial pattern of landscape elements was mainly and comprehensively determined by topographical features and interference pattern. The altitude, aspect and slope gradient were the dominant factors to control the spatial distribution pattern of the landscape elements in the study area. On different elevation zones, the influence of slope aspect and gradient would differ significantly in the orientation and intensity upon the spatial distribution pattern of landscape elements.
