A Primary Survey of Insect Fauna in the North Part of Northeastern Yunnan Province

  • 423 species belonging to 302 genera, 71 families and 9 orders of Insecta were recorded from the north part of Northeastern Yunnan Province. Inside the 9 orders recorded, Lepidoptera was the richest order in species. Insect fauna of the area was dominated by Oriental-Palaearctic group with 218 distributing species, accounting for 51.54% of the total. Oriental distributing species took the second place with 183 species, accounting to 40.26% of the total species. Generally speaking, insect fauna of the studied area was the mixture of the Himalayan, East Asian and Southern China fauna species, though it was predominated by Oriental group components. Resource insects, pollinator insects, ornamental insects, natural enemy insects, medical and edible insect species were the main insect resources in north part of the Northeastern Yunnan Province.
