Cuttage Experiment with Tender Cuttings of Acacia continma

  • The intrinsic and external influencing factors on rooting rate of Acacia continma tender cuttings were studied by systematic experiments. The following results were obtained:Plant growth regulators could significantly promote the rooting rate of the tender cuttings, ATB No.1 had better enhancing effect on rooting than IBA and NAA. The semi-closure cuttage with light, temperature and soil moisture control had higher rooting rate. Fine sand and sandy yellow soil were good substrates for A. continma cuttage. Although there was no significant difference in rooting rate among different cuttage seasons, there was difference in rooting speed. The optimal illumination intensity was between 7000~15000 Lx, within this scope, the higher illumination intensity, the faster rooting speed. The age of the maternal plants within 1~5 years old had about the same rooting rates, but the rooting speed slowed down along with the age increase. The effect of lignification extent of the cuttings on rooting rate and rooting speed was similar to the age effect of the maternal trees.
