A Preliminary Study on Silage Tetraploid of Robinia pseudoacacia

  • Experiments were conducted with tetraploid Robinia pseudoacacia for simple and compound silage fermentation. The fermentation quality of the silage was analyzed and appraised by indices of color, odor, texture, pH value, ratio of ammonia-N to total-N, and the nutritional indices including the contents of crude protein, neutral fiber and acid fiber. The results showed that the quality of silage simply made of the tetraploid R.pseudoacacia was poor, and there was no significant difference between the above and under ground fermentation ways. While the integrated quality of silage manufactrued by tetraploid R.pseudoacacia mixed with corn stalks was much better. Silage with higher content of protein and low content of fibers could be obtained when 1/3 of corn stalk was added to tetraploid R.pseudoacacia raw material.
