Study on Superior Individual Selection of Podocarpus nagi and Corresponding Characteristics

  • A comparative study on the relationship between the seed oil content and cold resistance of 8 superior individuals of Podocarpus nagi was conducted. The results showed: There were significant differences in seed oil content, cold resistant capacity and other indexes among the superior individuals selected by unit seed output as the principal index.Seed oil content of P.nagi showed high genetic effect, but is was not significantly correlated to the major climatic factors, seed output and the contents of main nutrients in the soil. The unit seed output was correlated to precipitation of the last year, cold resistance, latitude and longitude.NY2 and NS1 were screened out to be the best superior individuals from the eight candidates according to the comparative analyses on seed output, seed oil content and cold resistance by integration of variance analysis, correlation analysis and clustering analysis methods.
