Vegetative Propagation Experiment with Side Branches of Phyllostachys nigra var.henonis

  • Vegetative propagation with side branches of Phyllostachys nigra var.henonis was experimented.The results showed: The horizontally buried side branches began to germinate 25 days after implanting,and averagely 12 saplings could be obtained out of each maternal plant.Cuttings of the side branches started to germinate 30 days after the cuttage was done,and the average breeding rate was 78%.The cost of Phyllostachys nigra var.henonis forestation can be greatly reduced,bamboo shoot yield will be promoted and the growth speed might be increased with saplings bred by this kind of vegetative propagation.
