Investigation on Major Insect Pests Damaging Six Valuable Broadleaved Tree Species in Tropical Areas of Yunnan Province

  • A survey was carried out on insect pests of 6 valuable broadleaved tropical tree species, i.e., Betula alnoides,Tectona grandis, Anthocephalus chinensis,Gmelina arborea,Acacia mangium and Schima wallichii, by means of typical sampling method in the field. It was made clear the insect pest species, damage of the positions, damage extent and distribution of the major insect pests of each tree species. The survey showed that there were 65 insect pest species in 27 families of 6 orders damaging the 6 tropical hardwood tree species in Yunnan Province. Among them 15 pest species have caused severe economic losses.
