Growth Effect and Preliminary Selection of the Introduced Clones of Cunninghamia lanceolata

  • Two patches of planting experiments were implemented on category Ⅲ forest land with 12 clones of Cunninghamia lanceolata saplings introduced from Kaihua Forest Farm,Zhejiang Province in order to establish bumper timber production base. The saplings used in the experiments were bred by cuttage method. It was showed by the results that there were extremely significant or simply significant differences among different clones in plant height,DBH,crown diameter and standing volume 13 years after the experimental planting was done.Among the 8 clones,Clone No.38 did the best, whose average plant height reached 13.02 m,with 16.82 cm in DBH,and the standing volume per plant was 0.1470m3.Compared to seedlings bred from seeds as control,Clone No.57 and Clone No.28 were better for producing cuttings for future propagation,Clones No.110,No.3 and No.38 were recommended for extended planting after further experiment.
