Natural Weathering Effects on the Performance of WoodPlastic Flooring

  • The high density polyethylene (HDPE) and the wood powder (rubber wood flour or annatto powder) are used as the main raw material for the study and added with 03% of UV absorbers (UV531 or UV1), extrusion molding them for PE based woodplastic floor. 180 days observation was made for natural weathering effects on woodplastic floor′s performance in Kunming and Xishuangbanna. The results showed that: The 180day natural weathering reduce the woodplastic floor′s bending performance, high temperature and exposure to the sun is one of the main reasons;The surface color changes with the Natural weathering exposure, adding proper UV absorber fitting with wood powder raw material can effectively improve the fastness of surface color in woodplastic floor; The heavy rainfall will increase the water absorption rate of woodplastic flooring, adding UV absorbers can enhance water resistance of woodplastic flooring.
