Impact of High Temperature Treatment on Cedar Volatile Organic Compounds of Cedrus deodara

  • Dynamic Headspace Sampling combined with Gas ChromatographyMass Spectrometry (DHSGCMS) was applied to analyze the changes of the components and relative content of volatile organic compounds of Cedrus deodara with high temperature treatment. The treatment was conducted at different temperatures (140℃, 160℃, 180℃ and 200℃), with different processing time (2h and 3h). The results showed that 50 kinds of main components in untreated Cedrus deodara were identified, and terpenoids, aromatic compounds, alcohols, aldehydes, esters compounds, and ketones accounted for 5703%, 3167%, 593%, 108%, 101% and 091%, respectively. The relative contents of aromatic compounds and alcohols decreased along with the increase of the temperature, while terpenoids increased with the increase of the temperature. The relative contents of aromatic compounds and terpenoids decreased along with the increase of time, which was contrary to that of alcohols.
