Study on Growth Models of Larix gmelinii Plantation in the Eastern Liaoning Mountain Region

  • In this study, trunk analysis data of 32 standard trees of Larix gmelinii plantation in 8 sample plots of Liaoning experimental forest farm was used to analyze diameterheight curve and growth models. The relationship between height and diameter was estimated by using linear, logarithmic, exponential, power regression, logistic equation and cubic curve. The results showed that cubic curve fitted best, with the correlation coefficient of 0.99, indicating that Larix gmelinii experienced a slow-fast-slow growth process and the growth rate was highest in the young stage. The linear equation fitted better than logarithmic/exponential/power regression/logistic equation, with all the correlation coefficients more than 0.9. Hence, we established a linear distribution estimated equations to predict theory diameterheight distribution.
